Our focus will be hands-on exploration of music and art software and web based tools for the classroom. Thanks to the Beaverton School District for providing us with a lab, some Macintosh computers and MIDI keyboards! This will be an EdTech event you will not want to miss.

Location: Beaverton 5th. Street Training Lab
10615 SW 5th Street, Beaverton (behind Michael's Craft Store).  Cross Street is Western Avenue.  Major road north is Beaverton Hillsdale Highway.  Mojor road south is Allen Blvd.

This is the first of four Edtech technology training events for the NW Edtech Cadre.  The cadre is designed for teams of building administrators and classroom teachers. Training sessions will focus on current best uses of technology in schools and the newly published NETS standards for teachers and students. 

Any NWRESD area teacher or administrator may participate in EdTech Cadre trainings at no cost. Full participation in the cadre costs $375 a year per person. Full participants receive reimbursement for sub pay and a $200 stipend to offset the cost of registration for ITSC or NCCE. ($960 total benefit)

ORVSD Open Algebra Project

Dates: January 23, February 27, April 24, May 8

Workshop hours: 9am - 3pm

Cost: Free, stipend ($180 x 4 days) to offset substitute costs is available for one teacher from each NWRESD district.

We have funding from ODE for 20 algebra teaches to collaborate using Moodle and the ORVSD to produce algebra teaching and assessment resources. Each NWRESD district is invited to send one algebra teacher to four, one-day, workshops to create and learn to use Moodle based assessments and teaching tools. 

  • Create online assessments for classroom progress checks and district-wide benchmark evaluations.
  • Use online resources to enhance instruction
  • Create multimedia based, student-centered instructional tools.
  • Use Moodle and ORVSD tools to collaborate and share best practices with other math teachers in the region. Download Flyer

Saving YouTube videos for classroom use

Sometimes you can't link to a YouTube video or embed it in your blog because YouTube is blocked. You may need to find the video on another site, like TeacherTube.com or try to download a copy to show locally.

There is a javascript that will help download the video. Just bookmark Download Script and when you are viewing the YouTube video you need, click on the bookmark for additional YouTube download options.

Note that your downloaded video should not be re-posted on the web or you will be violating YouTube terms of use.
